Otto’s Exhilarating Adventure: Cast & Crew Interviews

The first of six interviews edited for the post-release marketing cycle of Otto’s Exhilarating Adventure, videography

Throughout my services as a leading marketer for Blue Hour Studios and its film production, Otto’s Exhilarating Adventure, I was tasked with editing a series of six interviews with key members of the cast and crew. These interviews, which had already been filmed before I joined the Blue Hour team, provided a fascinating behind-the-scenes perspective that would be put on full display shortly after the film’s premiere.

Like many of my projects from this era, I had to find confidence from beyond my comfort zone and delve into styles of content creation. I was not editing a dark film or a dramatic music video. These videos needed to be fun, flashy, fast-paced to cater to a restless social media ecosystem. I implemented cold open introductions to immediately pull viewers into the action. I relied on jump cuts and rapid transitions, and I stayed strict about never holding on one idea or shot for too long. Quick and simple took precedent over my typically meticulous workflow. In time, I managed to transform the one and a half hours of raw footage into streamlined segments ranging from three to eight minutes in length (most hovering around the seven minute mark).

The finished videos were polished with color grading, music, text, and visual overlays. The first of these videos would be uploaded shortly after the film’s release on April 4, 2026, and I continued to work dilligently with my client to complete revisions and build even more social media assets for the team.

With the full-length videos complete and slated to be uploaded to Blue Hour’s YouTube channel, I set out to create short-form segments for other social media platforms. I hand-picked the most compelling moments of each interview, shooting for two to three clips from each, and reformatted them into a vertical 9×16 aspect ratio.

One of eleven short-form interview clips curated for social media, videography.

There was a surprisingly intricate balance in these edits. Conversations were often loose and disorganized, and I had to choose which comments and reactions would have the spotlight. A matter of milliseconds could decide whether or not a cut felt natural. Beginning and end points were especially tricky to pin down in the constant flow of conversation. The same quirks that make the cast and crew personable were making their discussions incredibly difficult to chop up into bite-sized pieces. After quite a bit of fine-tuning, trial-and-error, and gut decisions, I managed to make every key interview scene flow smoothly in its new format. For each clip, I added the interview question to the bottom of the frame, making it easy to understand without intruding on the conversation.

I edited eleven short-form interview clips in total and delivered them to my client for uploading. Not all of them made it to social media, but many can be found on Blue Hour Studios’ Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts. This editing project required patience and a unique set of skills. I’m quite proud of what I accomplished, and my client was overjoyed to see their long-awaited interviews finally brought to life.
