This photo narrative was created shortly after my 21st birthday as a depiction of my fears of the toxic influences in my life. I’m fully sober, which is a very unusual trait for a 21-year-old college student to have. I’ve seen addiction destroy people I love. I’ve seen it turn people into the worst versions of themselve. I’ve seen it take away agency, financial freedom, opportunities, everything. I fear, because I’ve seen myself in some of these people. My 21st came with expectations that I would drink, at least once. I didn’t.
