Artistry Redefined Poster
Artistry Redefined Brand Poster, Graphic Design
Artistry Redefined is a brand that signifies a lifetime of personal growth and self discovery. In my early career, I struggled with finding a way to present myself that could encapsulate my diverse passions and persist through the inevitable changes I would undergo in the future. I was convinced that my bold ambitions and ever-changing interests simply couldn’t fit under a singular brand. Only after years of thoughtful consideration did Artistry Redefined come about, being a dynamic creative project that defines itself by my large-scale multimedia ambitions and complex lived experiences. This poster was the foundation of this new era of my career.
During my junior year as an arts technology student at Millikin University, I served on the board for the university’s annual Design Showcase event. It’s a critical networking opportunity for accomplished upperclassman students to showcase the best work that the art program has to offer. In preparation for the event, I designed two posters that I would print in large quantities and hand out to potential clients, colleagues, and fans at the event; one was for my music brand, Benevolent Sin, and the other was for my comprehensive art portfolio, which would become Artistry Redefined.
When designing this poster, I worked to unify standout elements from the five core media of my work: audio, graphic design, photo, video, and illustration (video was not a highlighted category at first, though some video snapshots were included in the poster regardless). Images from some of my favorite projects at the time were carefully blended together over layers of hand-drawn swirling backgrounds. The result is a collage with incredible depth and texture that captures my brand’s diversity of styles, all bathed in my signature blood red hue. The projects featured on this poster are: 21st, Goonsquad, Self-Portrait Series I, and Shadows of Horror.
Side Note: There are also multiple shots from my 2023 short film BLOOD, though that project is no longer available to the public. Written, directed, and shot during my freshman year of college, I think the film has some fantastic cinematography and art direction, but the writing feels incredibly underdeveloped and amateurish. I’m not ashamed to admit it exists, and I still love making callbacks to its visual identity which was the true starting point of what would evolve into my brand aesthetic. I just don’t think it demonstrates the comprehensive quality that now I pride myself on.
Conclusion:
This poster is so much more than an appealing design. It represents the start of a new journey towards artistic excellence, and the foundation of a brand that I am so immensely proud of today. You’ve likely seen the imagery on this poster plastered across my site’s homepage. These graphics are now synonymous with my identity. It’s an incredible challenge to design something timeless and perfectly emblematic of an constantly evolving identity. This project is far from perfect, but it’s role in creating something so much larger than itself will forever make it one of the cornerstone accomplishments in my career.
