Full Ride (Percussion Ensemble)
"Full Ride" is a jazz percussion octet that I composed for the Millikin University Percussion Ensemble in the Spring of 2025. The comfortable grooves found within the chaos of the piece’s unbalanced 7/8 time signature are designed to evoke feelings of rapid travel through a multimodal transit system. One section may feel like a hurried taxi ride during rush hour, while another may be more akin to a relaxing train ride home. All of these unique ideas combine into one continuous auditory journey through an imaginary city.
21st
This photo narrative was created shortly after my 21st birthday, and it depicts my relationship with vices and addiction at that pivotal point in my life. These images are a manifestation of some of my deepest fears. They bring life to that voice in my head telling me to give it all up and commit to an endless spiral of despair and depravity. I turn myself into a monster in this narrative, both physically and metaphorically, painting a bleak picture of what could have been.
Kill Your Darlings
“Kill Your Darlings” is an experimental photo narrative about my life as a creative. As a highly ambitious artist with limited resources, my work is often sidelined by technical limitations. As much as I’d like to, I can’t do every project on my own, and collaboration on massive, high-concept projects like the ones I pride myself on requires significant commitment from collaborators that is difficult to find or expect, even on an art campus. This was a zero-budget, one-person photoshoot. Each shot was achieved by placing a camera on a tripod and moving to position before the shutter clicked. The tripod was kept still to allow for seamless compositing of multiple shots. The final product is both visually stunning and haunting.
Urban Grunge
“Urban Grunge” was my first dive into the art of landscape photography. It was an experiment in finding points of interest among the mundane and generally unappealing landscapes of the cities and towns near my campus. My concept for this series was to photograph light in the darkness, going out past midnight, searching for areas that were still illuminated for my camera to capture. There’s something fascinating about the small pockets of civilization where we keep the lights on after the world goes to sleep. The chill in the air, the isolation, the uncharacteristic quiet—I find it all equally cozy and unnerving in these places.
Shadows of Horror
“Shadows of Horror” is a short photo narrative designed to immerse the viewer in a single horrific moment in time. It was my first truly experimental photography project, substituting a physical subject with cleverly placed shadows to tell my story. The photo set won multiple awards for its creativity and polished presentation.
